How are Michelin Stars awarded?
According to the Michelin Guide, their inspectors rate the quality of a restaurant’s food based on five criteria:
- quality of the ingredients used,
- mastery of flavour and cooking techniques,
- the personality of the chef in the cuisine,
- harmony of flavours, and
- consistency between visits.
It is all about the food, and interestingly, when awarding MICHELIN stars, the inspectors do not look at the interior decor, table setting, or service quality at all.
