White Lotus Heading to Cannes Film Festival, Saint-Tropez and Monaco

The next season of ‘The White Lotus’ looks set to be the most glamorous yet, with the fictional murder mystery unfolding during the Cannes Film Festival, according to a press release issued by HBO today.

“The fourth season will follow a new group of White Lotus hotel guests and employees over the span of a week, taking place during the Cannes Film Festival,” HBO said.

The Emmy®-winning hit series began filming on the French Riviera this month. Previous international locations have included Hawaii, Sicily and Thailand.

Filming will take place in Cannes, Saint-Tropez and Monaco, HBO confirmed, adding that “filming will also take place in Paris, though the story will remain along the Côte d’Azur.”

Variety reported that the ‘White Lotus’ production crew will be in Cannes for the entire festival (from 12 – 23 May), but the actors will only be there in the second week for three or four days. They are expected to walk the red carpet, according to one of the magazine’s sources.

The City of Cannes said filming will take place over more than 50 days, spread over a period of four months.

The resort town also confirmed that locations will include “the Palais des festivals et des congrès, the Hôtel Martinez, as well as various must-see sites of Cannes life”.

“This large-scale international production, expected to generate significant economic benefits, will mobilize many local professionals,” said Cannes, adding that by hosting this new season of ‘White Lotus’, “Cannes confirms its attractiveness and reinforces its status as a major destination for large audiovisual productions, alongside major international groups and studios such as Warner Bros. Discovery.”

It’s a location that’s already popular with A-list film stars who flock to the world famous film festival in May, and each year you’ll see crowds gathered around the hotel’s entrance for hours on end to catch a glimpse of a Hollywood legend.

The five-star hotel was recently refurbished; has a fabulous piano bar, swimming pool on the roof, private beach and even boasts a Michelin-star restaurant named after the Cannes Film Festival’s top award: La Palme d’Or.

Introducing White Lotus du Cap

HBO also confirmed earlier reports that Airelles Château de la Messardière will appear as the White Lotus du Cap. While Saint-Tropez is a perennial favourite with the film world, in reality it’s almost 90km away from Cannes.

Though unconfirmed, the name White Lotus du Cap may be a nod to Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc on Cap d’Antibes, a longstanding haven for screen icons during the Cannes Film Festival. Within easy reach by helicopter, boat or car, it offers the same discreet, resort-style seclusion as Messardière – just closer to the Croisette.

White Lotus Season 4 Cast

HBO has confirmed the following stars will make up the Season 4 cast of White Lotus: Helena Bonham Carter, Vincent Cassel, Steve Coogan, Caleb Jonte Edwards, Dylan Ennis, Corentin Fila, Ari Graynor, Marissa Long, Alexander Ludwig, Chris Messina, AJ Michalka, Kumail Nanjiani, and Nadia Tereszkiewicz.

Additional cast includes Chloe Bennet, Sandra Bernhard, Heather Graham, Max Greenfield, Frida Gustavsson, Charlie Hall, Jarrad Paul, Rosie Perez, Ben Schnetzer, and Laura Smet.

Mike White is again at the helm – as the series’ creator, writer, director and one of its executive producers.
