Monaco’s Beloved National Day Tradition Continues with Gifts for Senior Citizens

In keeping with its annual tradition, Monaco’s Princely Couple will offer gifts to Monegasque senior citizens as part of the Principality’s National Day celebrations.

Yesterday the Palace posted an invitation to senior citizens to register by Thursday. Many royal fans from around the world were moved by the kind gesture. Some said “congratulations” and “bravo”, while others noted “what a beautiful initiative for the seniors”. One Portuguese follower wrote: “Great idea! Other countries should do the same.”

This is not the only time the Palace kindly distributes gifts to its residents. In December, hundreds of local children are also invited to a special Christmas gift-giving celebration called Arbre de Noël.

The Monegasque Red Cross is usually involved in putting together gourmet food parcels for Monaco’s senior citizens. The National Day is typically celebrated with a military parade, avenues are proudly lined with the red and white flag, and a mass is held at the St Nicholas Cathedral.

When & where is the gift-giving for senior citizens in Monaco?

  • The event will take place on Tuesday 18 November 2025.
  • This year, gifts for the senior citizens will be distributed by Prince Albert’s sister, Princess Stéphanie.
  • The gift-giving will start at 14:30, at the Foyer des Aînés Monégasques in Avenue de la Quarantaine.
