The renovations at La Pinède in Juan-les-Pins are almost complete and ready for launch from 1 July 2026. For beach-lovers, there’s good news – the makeover will include a new municipally-managed beach with 70 sunbeds.
The new Pinède beach will complement Lutétia Beach, which has 230 sunbeds, but which is located on the other side of Juan-les-Pins, on the way to Golfe-Juan. The Pinède public beach is situated close to the luxury Belles Rives Hotel, at the gateway to Cap d’Antibes.
Both municipally-managed beaches will offer sunbeds, showers and changing rooms “at an attractive price”, according to Antibes Juan-les-Pins mayor Jean Leonetti.
Higher sunbed rates during peak season
However, prices won’t be as low as is usually expected at municipally-managed beaches.
The mayor explained that “due to misuse of this public service by people reserving sunbeds and then reselling the spots, and in order to ensure better turnover, we have decided to increase the sunbed rental price during the peak season to €20 per day.”
High season refers to July and August.
While municipally-run beaches are usually around half the price, private beach clubs in Juan-les-Pins charge an average of €45 per day, sometimes quite a bit more.
During the ‘low season‘ (June and September), Antibes residents will be able use the sun-beds for the lower price of €12.
And in more good news, a new half-day rate of €13 is being introduced for July and August.
Renovation of La Pinède beach and promenade above
The launch of the new beach is part of an “ambitious and virtuous” project taken on by the Antibes Juan-les-Pins municipality to “liberate” the area for pedestrians and improve the coastal landscape.
Previously home to small private beaches, the area will now accommodate the spacious new public beach which launches on Monday (1 June 2026).
A new promenade has been built above, where the legendary Juan-les-Pins jazz festival is held each July. From here, visitors can enjoy breathtaking and panoramic views over the bay of Juan-les-Pins. The natural pine forest remains, and a new majestic staircase has been created for beach-goers to access the sand and the sea.
Restaurant and business owners will be able to return but they will be positioned below the promenade, allowing for unspoilt views from above, according to the mayor.
Antibes Juan-les-Pins’ coastal renovation project includes three main areas:
- Boulevard Baudoin (Juan-les-Pins)
- La Garoupe (please note, due to ongoing work, Plage Keller beach is closed and the restaurant has relocated for 2026), and
- La Pinède (which has cost an approximate 5-million of the budget).
The mayor said last year that the aim of the 20-million euro overhaul is to reinstate the natural beauty of the Côte d’Azur, reducing the private beaches, and expanding the public beaches to cover 80% of the coastline. Some locals have complained about an over-use of concrete in recreating these ‘natural’ areas.
