White Lotus Set to Film in Saint Tropez on the French Riviera

The White Lotus Season 4 will reportedly be filmed in Saint-Tropez on the French Riviera, and in Paris. The beautifully luxurious Château de la Messardière has been named in reports as the main location where the TV show’s latest cast of wealthy guests will be gathering. According to Variety magazine, which broke the story, several other properties will also be used to create the one fictional hotel. UPDATE: White Lotus is heading to Cannes Film Festival, Saint-Tropez and Monaco.

The hotel, which is an Airelles Collection hotel, is one of the icons on the Côte d’Azur.  According to its website, it is “set within 13 idyllic hectares of parasol pines, cypress trees and jasmine, Château de La Messardière is a jewel of the Côte d’Azur.” It also has a kids’ club and private beach club at the famous Pampelonne Bay (often featured in news articles during the summer as international celebrities flock to the bay on their super-yachts).

Filming is reported to be scheduled for April to October 2026 which will be one of the longest shoots the show has ever had. Variety says filming will take place along the Riviera and is rumoured to also include the Cannes Film Festival, which takes place just 90-minutes away from Saint-Tropez by car (although most stars prefer to travel by boat or helicopter on the Riviera).

White Lotus viewers are in for breathtaking footage yet again (with the destination always featuring as one of the stars of the TV series), this time of a quintessential French paradise. Château de la Messardière is located on the outskirts of the town of Saint-Tropez, offering spellbinding views – which will presumably be coupled with spellbinding murder mystery clues!

Mike White, creator and director of The White Lotus, had been spotted holidaying in Nice in Summer 2025 so rumours have been rife for months that after Hawaii, Sicily and Thailand, the hit show would be landing on French shores next.

In selecting Château de La Messardière he has not only chosen a hotel that has a stunning sea-view and is host to glamorous “Gatsby-esque parties”, but it also has a romantic history. The castle was built by a well-known cavalry office in the 19th century for his bride as a wedding gift. (Airelles’ five-star hotel collection also includes the Pan Deï Palais in Saint-Tropez, which was also a gift from a husband to his wife.)

Apart from the hotel’s own romantic past, Saint-Tropez itself has a rich cultural background, shooting to stardom in the 1950s when Roger Vadim’s cast and crew arrived in the then small fishing village to film ‘And God Created Woman’. The movie starred Brigitte Bardot, and shot her to fame as well. The actress, who recently passed away at the age of 91, walked away from acting at the height of her career, and moved to Saint-Tropez to focus on saving and protecting animals. The activist spent the last few decades of her life living in her beloved Saint-Tropez.

The biggest hint that Château de La Messardière had been selected as the prime location for White Lotus came three months ago when the luxury hotel closed its doors for the winter. In a caption, beside sumptuous photos, the hotel teased: “This isn’t a movie set — it’s Château de la Messardière.”

Continuing the filming theme, they wrote: “The final clap echoes, the sun sets, and the curtain closes on another unforgettable season. From golden moments to star-studded nights, relive the best of what made this summer iconic. Until next season… the stage is set, and we’re already counting down.”

On its website, the hotel says it is due to re-open on 24 April 2026.

Today as the news broke, fans have taken to Château de la Messardière’s page to congratulate it on being “our new White Lotus”, although one loyal customer pleaded: “Please don’t close for the entire season because of white lotus I can’t wait to go back😅🤍”

Whatever happens, visits to Saint-Tropez and the Côte d’Azur are sure to spike after the season is aired, as has happened in the show’s other locations.
