A weather warning has been issued to the Var Amont section of the Alpes-Maritimes department. The yellow alert for rising water and flooding is for Wednesday (16 April ’25) from 10am to Thursday evening (17 April), and is due to the ongoing rains and storms.
The Alpes-Maritimes Department said they expect an increase in the intensity of rainfall over the next 24 hours.
“Consequently, a rapid rise of water is expected on the Var River in Entrevaux tomorrow (Wednesday) morning,” they said. Entrevaux is just over one hour’s drive inland of Nice.
The rapid rise of water could lead to localised flooding, and traffic conditions may be difficult in the area.
Residents in the region are advised to:
- keep yourself informed with local authorities
- avoid doing any nautical activities
- do not drive on roads that are submerged in water, even if only partially.
