Mon Week-End aux Musées: Weekend of Free Activities at Museums on the French Riviera

Côte d’Azur France invites you to enjoy free workshops and activities, and explore almost 40 museums and monuments  along the French Riviera, during the weekend of Saturday 31 January and Sunday 1 February 2026. This is the third year that this major cultural event, called Mon Week-End Aux Musées!, is being held.

The exceptional weekend will give young and old the opportunity to discover (or re-discover) the rich culture and heritage of this region, from Picasso’s Museum in Antibes to the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco.

Visits during this special weekend unfold in a fun and friendly atmosphere, with special workshops, activities and artistic performances especially created for the occasion.

ANTIBES

Archeology Museum

Children can have fun writing their first name like the Greeks, using metal engraving sheets.

Fort Carré

The Funny Mimes workshop promises lots of smiles and laughter as visitors get to mime soldiers’ gestures before turning them into colourful scenes on paper.

Peynet Museum

There will be a guided tour of selected works by Raymond Peynet, followed by a watercolour and ink workshop. You can also create a box using folding, origami, and drawing techniques based on Raymond Peynet’s Lovers series.

Picasso Museum

There will be a treasure hunt for young and old to explore Picasso’s art pieces (created during the artist’s time in Antibes), and a still-life painting workshop.

Posidonia

Teams will have to solve puzzles to find a key that will grant access to a new experience.

BIOT

Fernand Léger Museum

Guided tours and creative workshops around the vibrant colours is sure to sweep you away in a whirl of emotions.

Grimaldi Castle Museum

A one-hour guided tour invites visitors to discover the history of the building, and its exhibitions.

Museum of Contemporary Jewellery

A 30-minute tour will allow you to discover the monographic exhibition of jewellery designer Joël Faivre-Chalon.

Renoir Museum

Guided tours and a workshop in Renoir’s former home which has been transformed into a museum. The tour, designed for children, invites visitors to discover Renoir’s history in Cagnes-sur-Mer and his life in Les Collettes.

CANNES – LE CANNET

Bonnard Museum

Can you solve the enigma before time runs out? Between hidden clues and enigmatic artworks, you will need to demonstrate observation, logic, and daring to uncover the truth of a mystery buried for decades.

GRASSE

Fragonard Perfume Museum

Discover the history of perfume ands its precious objects and bottles.

Go behind the scenes of olfactory conservation and discover how precious bottles and boxes are preserved, before enjoying a journey dedicated to smells and aromas.

You’re invited to discover the museum by the light of a headlamp!

Château de La Napoule

Discover the museum in a different way and participate in a workshop led by a former artist in residence, Rachel Berkowitz who lives and works in Los Angeles.

MENTON

Jean Cocteau Museum – Le Bastion

There’s a booklet of fun and educational games for children to discover the poet’s life; as well as riddles and puzzles that the whole family can get involved in solving.

MONACO

Museum of Prehistoric Anthropology

A guided tour of the new exhibitions and the research laboratory which is usually closed to the public, followed by workshop where you’ll learn to make fire with tools and materials inspired by prehistoric humans!

Oceanographic Museum of Monaco

Dive into the heart of a protected marine area with the ImmerSEAve VR virtual reality experience, and then have fun discovering more with a great puzzle hunt or a tactile encounter with seaside animals.

MOUANS-SARTOUX

Espace de l’Art Concret

Guided tours and a mysterious exploration of the exhibition Extraterrestrial Art in the 21st Century, through an immersive storytelling tour.

MOUGINS

FAMM (Female Artists at Mougins Museum)

This unique museum (which presents about 100 art pieces from women) invites the public to view artworks in a different light. The focus will be on the paintings of Elizabeth Colomba, with Storytelling Tours – The Secrets of REMINISCENCE allowing visitors, guided by mediators, to imagine the stories hidden behind the paintings.

Lympia departmental cultural center

  • Guided tour of the exhibition “Brigitte, Mylène and Michèle – The Little Darlings of the French Riviera” which retraces the golden age of French glamour through a selection of iconic photographs and posters.
  • Retro Postcard Creation Workshop, where you’ll be able to create your own postcards inspired by the above exhibition and the 50s and 60s, using the screen printing technique.
  • Guided tour of the former prison.

Lazaret cave

A guided tour by torchlight which allows visitors to discover this major prehistoric site in the same conditions as those who occupied it more than 150,000 years ago.

Departmental Museum of Asian Arts

The Thanh Long Võ Dao France Vietnamese martial arts school will present two exceptional demonstrations of the Vietnamese lion dance, Múa Lân, on the forecourt.

National Sports Museum

  • Hold three authentic Olympic torches (Berlin, Rio, and Paris 2024) and compare their design, weight, and symbols.
  • A fun workshop invites you to explore the tangible health benefits of physical activity through an interactive experience. The adventure continues with the creation of a homemade organic granola bar.
  • Step into the shoes of Luke Skywalker and learn the techniques of the lightsaber, before facing off against other Jedi apprentices.

Marc Chagall National Museum

Guided tours and an art activity to discover the wonderful world of the artist.

Villa Arson

Villa Arson is offering two family fun activities on SATURDAY:

  • MIIM Calder ‘The Mobile Man’ – an acrobatic performance, inspired by American artist Alexander Calder’s Cirque Calder. 15:00-16:00.
  • MAMAC (Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art) Mobile Workshop – a workshop to make colourful mobiles, inspired by the works of Calder. 14:00-17:00.

You will be given a small booklet at the castle reception which will guide you on a quirky and surprising treasure hunt to discover the secrets of a dungeon with a unique history.

Villa et Jardins Ephrussi de Rothschild

Included in the villa-entrance ticket price on Saturday and Sunday is an exceptional guided tour – Drôles d’oiseaux (odd birds) – in which you will discover various birds (an eagle, ducks, swana, parrots and more) represented in the museum’s art pieces.

  • 10:15 – a family workshop where you’ll get to create your own still life, after being inspired by Pierre Boncompain.
  • 14:30 – an exciting detective game to search for Alberto Magnelli’s painting and its thief, using experts, games and puzzles.

National Picasso Museum “War and Peace”

  • Sunday 16:30 – Torchlight tour of Pablo Picasso’s War and Peace. If you’ve ever visited War and Peace, it is spectacularly unique (painted on the walls of a 12th Century chapel, war on one side, peace on the other) and moving. On Sunday, this experience will be further heightened by being immersed in darkness, with just a torch to see this masterpiece in a whole new light!

Escoffier Museum of Culinary Art

Your senses will be engaged by aromas, flavours and sounds – all clues to identifying the Chef’s iconic dishes. Each visit ends with an encounter with a guest chef, who will give a live demonstration of one of their recipes.
