History of the Monte Carlo Circus

The Festival was created in 1974 by Prince Albert’s father, Prince Rainier III of Monaco, who was passionate about the circus. His mission was to help and support the traditional circus and the circus families.

In 2005, his daughter Princess Stéphanie became the President of the largest circus festival in the world. And in 2012, together with her daughter Pauline Ducruet, she created a Festival for young performers called New Generation (which will this year celebrate its 13th edition).
