CANNESERIES: Opening Ceremony on the Pink Carpet

It was smiles all around at the Opening Ceremony for the Cannes International Series, Season 8 this evening, as the six-day television festival was launched with screenings of the first two episodes of The Agency, on Opening Night.

Dressed in Creative Chic, hundreds of guests had a fabulous time posing on the pink carpet of the Palais this evening, 24 April 2025.

Canneseries President, Fleur Pellerin (who was France’s former Minister of Culture) took to the stage with Cannes Mayor David Lisnard to welcome the attendees. Pellerin described Canneseries as a celebration of Togetherness, on screen and in the heart of Cannes.

She said Cannes Series is about Culture, and that in this moment of uncertainty in the world, these series and culture create meaning for audiences. With AI becoming so predominant, “we need human stories more than ever”, she said. These stories create openness and bridges between people and cultures.

This year also sees the launch of Canneseries Industry enabling collaborations, inventiveness and future projects on the screen.

Cannes is renowed as the world’s top destination for festivals.
