United Airlines has launched a nonstop flight between Nice Côte d’Azur Airport and Washington DC for the summer, as the French Riviera grows in popularity as a destination for Americans.
With this new route, United is increasing seats on offer from Nice to the US by over 30 per cent for summer 2025, according to Nice Airport.
The new connection shows the “growing attractiveness” of the French Riviera to Americans “who are travelling to the Côte d’Azur in ever-increasing numbers each year”, said Franck Goldnadel, Chairman of Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur.
The inaugural flight to Washington was on 23 May. The service is four-times weekly and will be limited to the summer season only.
Goldnadel said: “We warmly thank United Airlines for its trust and for this new route to the capital of the United States, operated directly, synonymous with time savings and lower emissions.”
United already has a seasonal nonstop service between Nice and New York/Newark; as well as year-round services from Paris to New York, Washington and Chicago, and an almost all-year service from Paris to San Francisco.
United Airlines’ Expansion
“We are excited to launch this further expansion of our route network from France to the U.S. and United’s first-ever service from Nice to Washington D.C.,” said Grégoire Dutoit, Country Sales Manager France, United Airlines. He said passengers will also benefit by being able to connect via their hubs to over 130 destinations across the Americas.
United’s expansion includes new flights from New York to destinations no other US airline serves including Nuuk, Greenland; Bilbao, Spain; Palermo, Italy; and Madeira Island and Faro, Portugal. Apart from Nice, seasonal flights are also being added to Venice in Italy, and between Rome and Denver.
United is the largest airline in the world, as measured by available seat miles, and flies to more international destinations than any other US carrier. In total, this summer United will offer over 800 daily flights to and from 140 international destinations – including 32 that no other U.S. airline serves.
