Choopy’s, the popular gluten-free eatery in Antibes on the French Riviera (famous for its cupcakes, bagels and wraps), has changed ownership. Riviera Edition caught up with new owner Anaïs to answer some of your burning questions.
Firstly, the name will remain Choopy’s; and yes – the recipes will all be gluten-free! Phew!
“I have intolerances myself,” Anaïs explains. The young 39-year-old is excited to get going, but first some important renovations are taking place this month (May).
“We’ll be re-opening Choopy’s in June,” she confirmed. Anaïs has lived in Antibes all her life. This is her town “and these are my people”. Most of her previous experience has been in local restaurants, as well as nine years spent running a B&B.

Anaïs is fabulously French, whilst speaking fluent English which will be a relief for many of the international clientele that Choopy’s attracts, being one of the few totally gluten-free spots on the Riviera.
Choopy’s was founded in the Old Town about 13 or 14 years ago by a young French couple who were inspired to do so after travelling around Australia and discovering the concept there.

Nine years ago Choopy’s was bought by JC (Jean-Claude) who said on an Instagram post that he’s “very happy that it is being taken over by Anaïs, a young woman from Antibes who will know how to improve the recipes on offer – still gluten-free – to accompany you in these moments of pleasure.”
Of his own journey, JC said: “Change is something you prepare for – you anticipate it, you think it through, you evaluate, and you confront your fears. Life holds many surprises and deserves our full attention.” He said it is with both joy and sadness that he is moving on, relocating to the Var region.
JC thanked his clients, friends and visitors from around the world for giving him so many “exceptional moments”.
We can’t wait for June!
