Princess Charlene of Monaco launched Pink October on Friday evening (4 October 2024). The Principality basked in a pink glow as the annual campaign (to raise breast cancer awareness) kicked off. Fabulous pink lighting illuminated some of Monaco’s most famous buildings, including the Monte Carlo Casino and the Palace. The Pink Ribbon association, of which Princess Charlene became Honorary President earlier this year, organises the symbolic gesture annually.

The month of October is traditionally dedicated to Breast Cancer Awareness around much of the world, and this is the 14th year that the Pink Ribbon movement has been making a difference in Monaco, promoting the importance of early screening and detection.

Pink Ribbon Monaco supports the Princess Grace Hospital
The non-profit organisation supports the Princess Grace Hospital by raising funds which contribute to vital research to improve breast cancer detection. Pink Ribbon Monaco said on social media:
“Through ongoing donations and initiatives, our association is committed to funding advancements that can help with early diagnosis and ultimately save lives. Together, we continue to push for progress in the fight against breast cancer.”
The association says: “Pink Ribbon Monaco believes in the power of awareness and education. We encourage regular screenings, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and reducing risk factors and weight gain. Through our initiatives, we aim to empower individuals to take control of their breast health and make informed choices. Early detection isn’t just about tests—it’s about understanding your risk and acting on it. By continuing to support the Princess Grace Hospital, we are helping to push the boundaries of breast cancer research and providing hope for a future where more lives are saved through early detection. Together, we can make a difference.”
Pink Ribbon Monaco recently appointed professional cyclist and Olympian Tiffany Cromwell as its Vice President.
