Juices offer a wide range of healing benefits, and their effects can vary based on individual needs or specific health goals, such as bloating, low energy, eczema, or acne… writes Naturopathic Nutritionist Erica. As the French Riviera heats up this summer, here are some great juices to boost and refresh your body.
Incorporating fresh juices into your routine can be incredibly nourishing for your body, especially at a cellular level. However, remember that it’s always important to consider your unique needs.
Juices are a fantastic way to consume phytonutrients, also known as phytochemicals which are natural compounds produced by plants that offer many health benefits. These powerful nutrients are found in fruits, vegetables, teas, nuts, herbs, and spices.
Some well known phytonutrients include flavonoids, chlorophyll, carotenoids, and lycopene. Choosing organic produce can further increase your intake of these beneficial compounds.
How phytochemicals support the body:
- Act as antioxidants, helping to reduce inflammation
- Regulate cellular cycles, supporting healthy function
- Promote detoxification of harmful compounds
- Help protect DNA from damage and degeneration
Freshly cold-pressed juices are particularly effective for alkalising and detoxifying your cells. They retain more nutrients and enzymes.
Glow boost juice
- 1 orange
- 1 lemon
- 10 small carrots
- 1 red pepper
- 1 thumb-sized piece of ginger
This vibrant juice is loaded with carotenoids and lycopene, which are excellent for supporting the immune system, vision, and joint health. Thanks to the high vitamin C content, it also helps reduce inflammation and promotes glowing skin.
Detox & refresh juice
- 1 lemon
- 1 orange
- 1 green apple
- A handful of parsley
- 1 thumb-sized piece of ginger
This chlorophyll-rich juice delivers key nutrients and supports liver detoxification by binding to toxins and helping the body eliminate them. The ingredients also play a vital role in promoting skin health and reducing excess inflammation.
