Antibes Pink Challenge: Défi Rose

As part of Pink October, the League Against Cancer – Alpes-Maritimes Committee is organising the 3rd Défi Rose event in Antibes on Sunday, 5 October.

Come along in costume or not, alone or with family, friends and colleagues. You can walk or run the 5km between Fort Carré and La Siesta.

All you need to know about Antibe’s Défi Rose:

• Meet at 2pm in the Fort Carré parking lot. Event ends at around 5pm.
• All profits will be donated to the fight against cancer.
• Participation fee: €15.

Nice

In Nice the 5km walk starts at 10.15am, and the 7km race at 9.30am.

Participants and spectators are invited to meet at 8.45am in the Albert 1er gardens (entrance via Place Massena) for “numerous activities and warm-ups accompanied by music from a sports coach”.

SOS Breast Cancer South PACA and Corsica say they hope the event will raise awareness of:

• the importance of regular physical activity
• the prevention of breast and cervical cancers
• the need to “feel yourself, listen to your body and consult a gynecologist every year;
  and the need to have a mammogram every 2 years for screening beyond the age of 50”.

Villefranche

A similar sporty and friendly event will be held in Villefranche. The 5km walk/run starts earlier though – at 9am. There is also swimming and an aquathlon. The activities are to benefit the fight against breast cancer with 100% of the funds raised to be donated to the CHPG of Monaco.
