L’Occitane en Provence – Cannes

Why We Shop Here

With shops in over 90 countries, L’Occitane has become synonymous with Provence and its traditional savoir-faire. I first discovered L’Occitane when I purchased its Verbena Shower Gel over 20 years ago. Today it is still one of my favourites, with its fresh energizing scent.

History

It all started in the sun-kissed markets of Provence. In 1976, aged only 23 years-old, Olivier Baussan set out with little more than a still and a modest van. But he also had a deep understanding of the aromatic plants that flourish under the Mediterranean sun. His first creation? Pure rosemary essential oil, carefully distilled and sold to locals.

What began as a simple passion soon blossomed. Inspired by the rich landscapes and timeless traditions of his native Provence, Olivier expanded his range, from essential oils to artisanal soaps and nourishing creams. Each product is a tribute to the region’s natural beauty, crafted to bring a touch of Provence into homes around the world.

Best-selling Products

Shea Butter Hand Cream, with one sold every 4 seconds.

Almond Supple Skin Shower Oil, with one sold every 15 seconds.

Immortelle Overnight Reset Serum, with one sold every minute (with the Immortelle Flower sourced from Corsica).

Sustainable Sourcing

When you buy L’Occitane you can also be assured that you are contributing to sustainable practices and protecting biodiversity.

Most of L’Occitane’s products are sourced from Provence. But its beloved Shea Butter comes directly from the women of Burkina Faso, West Africa, who craft this rich cream with care and tradition. By supporting over 10,000 women through sustainable Shea production and business development training, L’Occitane shows its commitment to empowering and respecting its producers and pickers.

Closer to home, it has reintroduced a piece of cultural heritage by planting 15,000 Almond Trees in the Alps of Haute-Provence. These Provençal almonds are at the heart of their deliciously scented Almond collection.
