Carrefour is a leading French retailer with a vast global network of hypermarkets, supermarkets, and convenience stores. It was Carrefour who pioneered the concept of hypermarkets in 1963, and their outlet on the outskirts of Antibes is so large that some of its staff weave around the store on rollerblades! It’s a great one stop-shop to stock up before the start of your holiday, selling everything from supermarket groceries and fresh produce to electrical goods, bedding, candles and crockery. Prices are usually cheaper than their smaller outlets, especially if you buy in bulk. There are other smaller Carrefour supermarkets in the town centre, including a Carrefour City that’s open until almost 10pm most nights in the Old Town. There’s also a new Carrefour set to replace Jeffreys, the legendary British supermarket in Antibes.
