Bridgerton Star Nicola Coughlan Heads to Cannes Series to Receive Award

Dearest Reader, it brings us great joy to inform you that Lady Whistledown herself will be in Cannes on the French Riviera next week! irish actress, Nicola Coughlan, will be appearing on the pink carpet to receive an award at the Cannes Series festival.

What award will Nicola Coughlan win at Cannes Series?

The award – Konbini Commitment Award – is given to those who have distinguished themselves with their artistic talent, and a societal, innovative and/or revolutionary dimension to their work.

Nicola, who not only achieved international success with her role as Penelope Bridgerton (aka Lady Whistledown) in the record-breaking series, Bridgerton, is also renowned for her role in award-winning hit comedy series Derry Girls (as Clare Devlin), as Diplomat Barbie in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie blockbuster and for starring in Big Mood opposite Lydia West. (Thje show has just been renewed for a second season.)

Nicola was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award for Female Actor in a Drama Series for her Bridgerton role and the Netflix series was nominated in the Ensemble in a Drama Series Award.

Nicola was most recently seen in the Doctor Who Christmas special.

She will next be seen in an adaptation of Enid Blyton’s The Magic Faraway Tree. Nicola plays Silky, the woodland fairy, alongside Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy.

When will the Bridgerton star be in Cannes?

Nicola will be at the Festival on Monday, 28 April to receive her Honorific Prize. She will also be giving a Masterclass in which she’ll look back on her career and the roles she has taken.

What is the Cannes Series and what are the dates?

Cannes Series is an international television festival, held annually in Cannes on the Côte d’Azur. This year’s date are 24 – 29 April 2025.
