American actress Robin Wright has been named today as the Monte Carlo Television Festival’s ‘Crystal Nymph 2025’. The prestigious award is bestowed upon a person from the world of television for their outstanding career and enduring impact on the TV industry.

Robin first attracted attention when she starred as Kelly Capwell in Santa Barbara from 1984 to 1988. She then rose to international fame in the late 80s with her iconic role as Buttercup in The Princess Bride.

In 2013, Robin returned to our TV screens in the political drama House of Cards. Her brilliant portrayal of Claire Underwood earned her worldwide recognition. She received a Golden Globe and several Emmy Award nominations. (She acted in a whopping 73 episodes between 2013 and 2018.)

The 58-year-old has also successfully carved out a career as a director and producer, “taking on bold and impactful projects that have left a significant mark on the audiovisual industry”, the Monte Carlo TV Festival said in a press statement today.

Robin Wright will be honoured in the presence of (Honorary President) Prince Albert II of Monaco during the Closing Ceremony of the Festival, on Tuesday 17 June 2025. (The famous TV event was created by Prince Albert’s father Prince Rainier III.)

The annual international television festival, which celebrates its 64th edition this year, will run from 13 to 17 June 2025 in Monaco.

“Major studios, broadcast networks, digital platforms and renowned talent gather together over several days in this idyllic setting, to promote their programs to the press and public and compete for the prestigious Golden Nymph Awards,” says the Festival. (The statuete is a replica of the Nymph Salmacis which was created by Monaco artist François-Joseph Bosio. You can view the original in Paris’ famous Louvre.)
