Impressed by the power of the imagination of sick children she had met, Dominique Bayle, a PE teacher, was looking for a way to help make their dreams come true.
One day, accompanied by her sister-in-law who worked as a nurse, Dominique met Frederic d’Agay, the great-nephew of Antoine de Saint-Exupery, famous author of the iconic book The Little Prince. They mentioned their charitable project to him and he kindly gave them the green light to use the name Petits Princes for their Association.
The Little Princes Association (Association Petits Princes) was officially founded in November 1987. Since then, the Association has granted over 9000 wishes to seriously ill children. Each day, thanks to this wonderful charity, one sick child sees his or her dream become a reality.
In 2011, Dominique Bayle’s amazing work was recognized and she was awarded the Chevalier de la Legion d’Honneur, one of France’s highest civilian awards. True to her selfless character, Dominique said this award belonged equally to all the volunteers, children, and families involved.
