Olympic torchbearers will pass through Antibes on 18 June, carrying the Olympic Flame which has come all the way from Olympia in Greece (where the Olympic Games originated).
A total of 25 torchbearers will pass the torch every 200 metres on an almost 5km route. According to the mayor’s office, Antibes has been selected for the Olympic Flame’s journey in recognition of “the sporting commitment of our city and its athletes”.
The torchbearers will follow a coastal route from Pointe du Bacon to the Fort Carré stadium, passing along the newly inaugurated Promenade des Remparts where members of the public can watch from three places (at the intersection with the three perpendicular avenues). Members of the public can stand anywhere else along the route except for the Cap d’Antibes section from Salis.
The event is expected to last 1 hour and 15 minutes, with the flame leaving Pointe du Bacon at 15h07 and arriving at Fort Carré stadium at 16h22. Guardians of the flame will surround the torchbearers.
Please Note: parking will be forbidden along the entire route from the day before (17 June) at 06h00.
The torch relay ends at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, on 26 July 2024, where it will be used to light the Olympic cauldron.
