Antibes’ large post office in the Old Town has closed its doors, and is making way for a new luxury hotel, to be created by none other than talented Parisian architects Perrot & Richard.<\/p>\n

The new hotel will feature 39 bedrooms, a shop, and a rooftop swimming pool, according to a construction permit pasted to the side of the building.<\/p>\n

Who are the architects Perrot & Richard behind the new luxury hotel in Antibes?<\/h2>\n

Perrot & Richard’s previous projects include Louis Vuitton Vend\u00f4me, Ritz Vend\u00f4me and the Grand Palais in Paris; as well as – on the French Riviera – Caf\u00e9 de Paris in Monaco and the Basilica in Menton, amongst many other prestigious buildings. With their expertise, the Art Deco building in Antibes, which was built in 1937<\/a>, is certain to be transformed into a palace.<\/p>\n

The renowned designers have 30 years of experience in both architecture and “architectural heritage restoration and preservation of exceptional building design”, according to their website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The project will involve only a “partial demolition”, according to the permit, in order to transform the property’s use.<\/p>\n

The building, at 2 Avenue Paul Doumer, was one of the few to remain standing during the recent Marenda-Lacan housing and business redevelopment, which has seen a wave of new restaurants, shops, apartments and a cinema created in the area.<\/p>\n

Although locals have often described the post office building as Brutalist, that architectural style only emerged in the 1950s, and if you can look past the heavy bars (which will hopefully be removed for the hotel!), it actually features a typical Art Deco ocean-liner shape with windows designed to look like portholes.<\/p>\n

Where is the Antibes Post Office moving to?<\/h2>\n

The post office will open its doors at its new location – 3 Rue Championnet – on Thursday 24 April 2025 at midday. The new post office is just a short walk from its old premises, across the square and around the corner from Nananere restaurant<\/a>, and next to La Poste parking garage. Two ATMs have also been conveniently installed outside the post office.<\/p>\n
