President Emmanuel Macron has become the face that launched a thousand memes and broke the internet. For sure! After his appearance at the Davos summit in Switzerland last week, sporting an elegant pair of sunglasses, the luxury brand – Henry Jullien – was besieged with “an exceptional volume” of calls and orders for the blue-tinted aviator-style glasses. And its website crashed. Today, on a temporary page, the company explains that “due to the high number of visits, we had to disable our website”.<\/p>\n

While many memes compared the French President to Top Gun, Macron was apparently wearing the \u20ac659 glasses to cover his ‘eye of the tiger’ (his words at a speech earlier this month, excusing his bloodshot eye). According to a BBC<\/a> report, he has likely been suffering from a sub-conjuctival haemorrhage (broken blood vessel in his eye).<\/p>\n

President Macron didn’t just give France’s reputation for effortless style a boost with his choice of eye wear, his sunglass appearance at Davos has also caused a surge in shares for Henry Jullien (adding<\/a> more than $4-million in market value at the time of publishing).<\/p>\n

Henry Jullien is a company from the north east of France, steeped in more than 100 years of tradition (started in 1921), know-how (savoir faire) and passion. Since 2019 it has held EPV certification (Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant), the highest mark of excellence in French craftsmanship. Henry Jullien’s skilled artisans design, craft and assemble each frame by hand, according to the company.<\/p>\n

So what sunglasses was President Macron wearing in Davos, Switzerland?<\/h2>\n

The French president was wearing Henry Jullien Pacific 01 S, from the Doubl\u00e8 Or collection. The company says “the silver metal frame pairs perfectly with the blue lenses, creating an ideal balance between modernity and sophistication…\u00a0 transforming a functional accessory into a true style statement”.<\/p>\n

Henry Jullien says the accessory is “perfect for those who know how to combine presence and personality”, and admitted that their glasses had been an “unexpected protagonist” at the gathering of world leaders at the annual conference of the World Economic Forum (WEF).<\/p>\n

According to the luxury label, their eyeware is “crafted using the Gold Filled technique, where gold is seamlessly integrated into the base metal… (which)… ensures the longevity and distinctive quality” of their products.<\/p>\n
