Requirements vary depending on your status, and the official websites don\u2019t always agree with what the prefecture tells you. Even once you\u2019ve arrived, you\u2019ll face renewal deadlines, inexplicable delays, online portals, and the occasional mysterious rejection email written entirely in administrative French.<\/p>\n

And for EU citizens, who once thought they could breeze in effortlessly? The reality can still be long and frustrating. Applying for health coverage or registering for tax can feel like navigating a maze where every path leads to another website, and another password you\u2019ve forgotten.<\/p>\n

In theory, moving applications online was meant to simplify things. The processes I faced over 3 decades ago when I came to France were very different to the ones faced today.
