The Monaco Yacht Show (MYS) reaffirmed its status this year as the world’s premier superyacht event, and Monaco as arguably the capital of yachting.
“The 33rd edition of the MYS showcased a stunning fleet of 120 superyachts, presented by international brokers and shipyards that, as usual, chose the MYS to unveil their new yachts launched in 2024. This year, 46 made their debut at Port Hercule, alongside 15 vessels launched in 2023. More than half of the yachts on display were under two years old, a testament to the dynamism and innovation that define this elite industry,” the MYS said in a press statement.
This year’s glamorous event on the French Riviera was held from 25 to 28 September 2024, bringing together an international clientele of yacht owners, prospective owners, charter clients, and yachting professionals.
A whopping total of 29,197 visitors gathered along the quays of Port Hercule, highlighting the growing interest in the superyacht event, and foreshadowing “the scale of its economic impact on the Principality”, according to the statement.
On the first day of the Monaco Yacht Show, the Dockside area was exclusively reserved for private clients who were able to enjoy yacht tours and privileged contact with shipyards, brokers, and designers.
Apart from superyachts, dedicated exhibition areas showcased ground-breaking sustainable solutions, luxury custom interior design, leisure ‘toys’ and exotic new destinations.
Sustainability driving innovation
Innovation and sustainability took centre stage at the 2024 MYS. With 554 companies present, exhibitors demonstrated their commitment to blending the luxury yachting lifestyle with environmental responsibilities.
A series of 22 conferences highlighted major trends shaping the future of yachting. These include: sustainability, innovation, and personalization. Topics included the transition to alternative propulsion systems, the use of eco-friendly materials, the integration of artificial intelligence on board, and the creation of yachts with a unique brand identity.
The challenges of refitting and converting existing yachts were also discussed, emphasizing the need for sustainable and efficient solutions.
