SUMMARY:Inauguration of the Promenade des Remparts in Antibes
DESCRIPTION:The new Promenade des Remparts will be officially launched on Friday 14 June 2024\, starting from 18h30. \nThe inauguration will take place at the last section to be revamped\, between the Picasso Museum and the Saleurs ramp. \nLocals and visitors have already been enjoying strolls along the completed parts of the promenade which has been transformed for pedestrians.

SUMMARY:Antibes to Welcome the Olympic Flame
DESCRIPTION:Olympic torchbearers will pass through Antibes on 18 June\, carrying the Olympic Flame which has come all the way from Olympia in Greece (where the Olympic Games originated). \nA total of 25 torchbearers will pass the torch every 200 metres on an almost 5km route. According to the mayor’s office\, Antibes has been selected for the Olympic Flame’s journey in recognition of “the sporting commitment of our city and its athletes”. \nWhat route will the Olympic Flame take in Antibes?\nThe torchbearers will follow a coastal route from Pointe du Bacon to the Fort Carré stadium\, passing along the newly inaugurated Promenade des Remparts where members of the public can watch from three places (at the intersection with the three perpendicular avenues). Members of the public can stand anywhere else along the route except for the Cap d’Antibes section from Salis. \nWhat time will the Olympic Flame be welcomed to Antibes?\nThe event is expected to last 1 hour and 15 minutes\, with the flame leaving Pointe du Bacon at 15h07 and arriving at Fort Carré stadium at 16h22. Guardians of the flame will surround the torchbearers. \nPlease Note: parking will be forbidden along the entire route from the day before (17 June) at 06h00. \nThe torch relay ends at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games\, on 26 July 2024\, where it will be used to light the Olympic cauldron. \nImage: Olympic torch lighting in Olympia\, Greece.
