SUMMARY:Monaco Historic Grand Prix: Classic Car Racing Event
DESCRIPTION:If you happen to be on the French Riviera towards the end of April\, don’t miss a chance to go and admire a large display of classic cars. They will gather in the small principality of Monaco to take part in the 15th Monaco Historic Grand Prix from 24-26 April 2026. \nWhat’s New at This Year’s Historic Grand Prix\nTurbo-powered Formula 1 cars will be eligible to compete in the 15th Monaco Historic Grand Prix. Recent regulatory changes from the FIA will allow the Automobile Club de Monaco’s (ACM’s) Organising and Selection Committee to introduce a dedicated class for them. \nThis idea was originally envisioned in 2022 with the creation of Series G\, reserved for F1 single-seaters that raced in Monaco between 1981 and 1985. \nMuch to the delight of enthusiasts of Formula 1’s golden age\, the iconic 3-litre engine cars are expected to remain the true stars of this race. These machines\, often powered by the legendary Ford Cosworth DFV V8\, whose arrival in 1966 reshaped the sport’s identity and global appeal\, embody a defining era of racing history. \nBetween 80 and 100 cars are anticipated across Series D to G\, all meticulously preserved. Remarkably\, all are capable of lapping the streets of Monte Carlo faster than they did half a century ago as they now benefit from improved grip and modern safety standards. \nPre-war Models for Vintage Car Lovers\, Plus Tributes and More\nCommitted to preserving the Grand Prix’s unique heritage\, organisers have chosen to retain Series A1\, exclusively dedicated to pre-war cars. Models such as the Bugatti 35\, 37 and 51\, alongside classic Maseratis\, are considered the very DNA of the Monaco event. \nElsewhere\, Series A2 (post-war\, front-engine cars) and Series C (sports cars) will return unchanged; as will the five other F1 grids that together showcase nearly four decades of Grand Prix evolution\, from 1946 to 1985. \nA number of tributes and anniversaries are already planned\, set against the timeless elegance of the Principality’s circuit. \nPhoto: © ACM\nIf you enjoy hearing the roar of engines and the thrill of speed\, get your tickets now. This 15th edition of the Monaco Historic Grand Prix promises to bring some of motorsport’s most beautiful chapters vividly back to life. \nINSIDER TIPS: \n\nFree access to the public on Friday 24 April\, which is practise day. \nBenefit from a €150 two day-pass which covers Saturday (qualifying practises) and Sunday (the races). \n\nFor more information and to book tickets\, please click here.

SUMMARY:Mountain Festival in Saint-Paul de Vence
DESCRIPTION:After the success of previous editions\, the magic of the mountains will once again descend upon Saint-Paul de Vence from 21 to 23 November 2025. Over three inspiring days\, visitors will be invited to discover the world of mountain sports and meet passionate climbers and adventurers\, all in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Expect lively activities\, hands-on workshops\, engaging talks\, films\, and exchanges. And\, of course\, magical evening screenings celebrating the beauty and spirit of the mountains. \nThis year’s edition pays tribute to Benjamin Guigonnet and Quentin Lombard. Saint-Paul native and accomplished mountaineer Benjamin Guigonnet\, was a driving force behind the Festival. He was devoted to “introducing the world of the mountains to younger generations”. Quentin Lombard was a mountain guide and a ski teacher. They both tragically died in September 2025 following a car accident and this edition is dedicated to their memory. \nAdventure lovers will be spoilt for choice. Among the activities on offer on 23 November: A giant zip line\, rappelling down the ramparts\, and a true mountain challenge. You could also explore the urban bouldering course\, or watch a live mountain rescue demonstration. \nFor nature enthusiasts\, don’t miss the Nature Through a Climber’s Eyes workshop. Or take part in the full-scale outdoor mystery game The Shadow of the Refuge (activity starts at 3pm\, a fee is payable). \nFor more information\, please click here. \nINSIDER TIP: There will be free parking in Saint-Paul on 22 and 23 November.

SUMMARY:Opera in Monaco: Aida by Giuseppe Verdi
DESCRIPTION:This week audiences are in for a treat from Opéra de Monte-Carlo. Verdi’s masterpiece – Aida – will be performed at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco. The opera house promises “a fusion of visual grandeur and dramatic intensity” with an exceptional cast. \nSet against a romanticized vision of ancient Egypt\, Giuseppe Verdi’s Aida portrays the tragic clash between Aida and Amneris\, two proud princesses battling for the love of the valiant warrior Radamès. Originally commissioned to celebrate the opening of the Suez Canal\, the opera was conceived on a grand\, almost cinematic scale with elephants included! \nWhen the work first came to Monaco in 1884\, several large ensemble scenes had to be trimmed due to the limited size of the Opéra’s stage. In 2025\, this is no longer an issue for Davide Livermore and his team\, who will make full use of the expansive stage at the Grimaldi Forum. A space where they have already showcased remarkable creativity by blending modern technology with breathtakingly immersive sets. \nPhoto: Aida/Opera de Monte Carlo/Facebook\nAida Cast in Monte Carlo:\nMarie-Nicole Lemieux as Amneris\nAleksandra Kurzak as Aida\nArsen Soghomonyan as Radamès\nAntonio di Matteo as the King \nINSIDER TIP: A second performance will take place on 22 November at 8pm. \nTo book tickets and for more information\, please click here.

SUMMARY:Salvador Dali Exhibition in Nice: Divine Creatures
DESCRIPTION:The ‘Salvador Dalí : Divines créatures’ (Divine Creatures) exhibition offers visitors a chance to immerse in the Spanish surrealist artist’s universe and its extraordinary bestiary. From an apocalyptic horse to a spidery elephant and an anteater on a leash\, more than 90 works\, rarely seen by the public\, are on display at the Espace Lympia\, beside the Port of Nice\, until 23 November 2025. (Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.) \nThe artworks include paintings\, drawings\, engravings\, sculptures\, photographs and films. Their diversity is a testament to Dalí’s polymorphic talent. (Dali was fond of the French Riviera and once spent four months creating an incredible 11 of his most epic art pieces while a guest at Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel’s legendary villa La Pausa in nearby Roquebrune-Cap-Martin.) \nThis Salvador Dali exhibition is a cross between bestiary and psychoanalysis\nSalvador Dalí (1904–1989) created a collection of strange animals (both real and imagined) inspired by ancient myths\, medieval art\, and painters like Brueghel and Bosch. He didn’t follow the usual scientific way of classifying animals—instead\, his creatures came from his own mind and emotions. They reflect his dreams\, fears\, phobias and fantasies. For Dalí\, these bizarre animals weren’t just made-up creatures—they were symbols of deeper thoughts\, feelings\, and even psychological issues\, especially his own. \nThe exhibition has been curated by Jean-Michel BOUHOURS\, former chief curator at the Centre Pompidou in Paris. It’s an original production\, and will only be in Nice. It is also the first Dali exhibition in Nice since the 1970s. \nThe layout has been designed by Hapaxe Editore studio (based in Turin\, Italy). \nThe 90 works of art have come from 25 lenders in France and abroad\, including the Museo National Centro de Arte Reina Sofia and the Salvador Dalí Society. This includes an exceptional collection of 14 photographs produced by Salvador Dalí and Philippe Halsman. \nPlease Note: The exhibition is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

SUMMARY:Grace Kelly Exhibition at Monaco Palace: Grace #1
DESCRIPTION:An intimate exhibition of Princess Grace memorabilia is being held at the Princely Palace of Monaco. \nGrace #1 is an unprecedented homage to Princess Grace\, the beautiful American actress – born Grace Patricia Kelly in 1929 – who became European royalty on 19 April 1956 when she married Prince Rainier of Monaco and became Princess Grace. She became one of the most legendary figures of the 20th century until her tragic passing in a motorcar accident in 1982. \nThe organisers say: “If Grace Kelly (1929-1982) remains in the collective imagination an ideal of beauty touching on perfection\, as much for the purity of her features\, her divine blonde hair and her slender body as for her subtle acting that made her Hitchcock’s mythical heroine and won her an Oscar for George Seaton’s 1954 film Country Girl\, it is a rarer and more authentic image that this exhibition seeks to convey.” \nGrace Kelly exhibition. Photo © Bob Adelman photos/Prince’s Palace of Monaco\nWhen and where is the Princess Grace exhibition?\nADDRESS: \nThe exhibition – Grace #1 – is being hosted in the Monaco Palace’s State Apartments:\nPalais des Princes\, 98015 Monaco \nDATES & OPENING HOURS: \n5 July – 31 August 2025*: 10am to 6pm (The Palace closes at 7pm)\n*11 July: Open from 3pm\nThe Palace will be closed between July 18 and 20.\n1 – 14 September 2025: 10am to 5pm (The Palace closes at 6pm) \nTICKET PRICES: \nTickets are 10 euros\, or 5 euros for children between 6 and 17\, and students.\nIt’s free for under 6 years old. \nWhat Grace Kelly belongings are included in the exhibit?\nYou’re invited to discover Princess Grace’s radiant and multi-faceted personality through a collection of original photographs\, personal items (including glasses\, gloves\, hats\, and of course the famous Kelly d’Hermès bag pictured below)\, jewellery and accessories… which together tell the heartfelt story of the woman behind the iconic image. \nPrincess Grace exhibition\, with the famous Grace Hermes bag. Photo © Bob Adelman photos/Prince’s Palace of Monaco\nAccording to the palace\, the exhibit goes beyond the stereotype\, revealing instead that Grace Kelly was a “sensitive\, brilliant\, courageous\, and free-spirited figure”. \nTo show Princess Grace’s nuances\, emotions and quiet strength\, the exhibition is divided into four themes: \n\nthe young woman in her natural element\, immortalised on the beaches of Jamaica;\nthe everyday woman\, elegant and discreet;\nthe loving and attentive mother; and finally\nthe amateur photographer and filmmaker\, eager to preserve the precious memories and special moments from her family life.\n\nThe exhibit has been curated by Natalia Mlodzikowska (the Palace’s exhibition manager for the Collections Department) and guest artistic curator Marie-Eve Mestre. It is spread over 90m²\, covering three rooms of the Palace\, and draws mainly from the collections and archives from the palace. \n© Grace Kelly photographed by Howell Conant in Montego Bay\, Jamaica\, 1955\nWalking through the exhibit (on carpet to lessen the sound of steps) you will feel immersed in an environment of softness and elegance… with subdued lighting\, velvet curtains\, floral tapestry\, rose fragrance\, birdsong and more. A moment to pause and reflect. \nThe organisers say: “Far from being a chronological or exhaustive retrospective\, “Grace” #1 is a sensitive\, artistic exploration of an enduring figure\, inviting visitors to step closer to the Princess’s world while discovering life through her own lens.”

SUMMARY:Cezanne Exhibition in Aix-en-Provence
DESCRIPTION:Over 10 years ago\, I was lucky enough to go to Aix-en-Provence: And visit the sites that provided Paul Cézanne with endless inspiration. We had as our guide Philippe Cros\, an art expert who was at the time the director and curator of the Bemberg Art Foundation in Toulouse. This trip remains one of my special memories. So I cannot wait to see the must-see Cézanne retrospective in Aix which opens on 28 June. And I encourage anyone living in or visiting the South of France to book their tickets right now. \nMusée Granet\nThe Musée Granet is hosting the major international exhibition Cézanne au Jas de Bouffan. A unique selection of over 130 works\, including oils on canvas\, drawings and watercolours\, will help you uncover Cézanne’s private life. And discover the lifelong bond between the artist and his family home. These priceless works have been loaned from collections around the world. Museums such as the Musée d’Orsay\, but also Chicago\, London\, Los Angeles\, Tokyo and Zurich to name but a few. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to admire an impressive collection of Cezanne’s most iconic paintings in one single location. \nLe Jas de Bouffan\, Cézanne’s Family Home\nIn 1859 the artist’s father bought the Jas de Bouffan\, situated to the West of the city. It would be Cézanne’s family home for four decades. It was here that\, at the age of 20\, he painted his earliest works\, some of which were recently discovered in the ‘Grand Salon‘. And his most famous masterpieces came to life in his second floor studio\, set up by his father. Sadly Cézanne had to sell the family home in 1899. But amazingly\, a park of nearly five hectares is still home to the Jas de Bouffan\, which has hardly changed since Cézanne’s day. \nStudio des Lauves\, the Artist’s Studio\nAfter selling the family home and moving to the city centre\, Cezanne purchased a plot of land on a hill named Les Lauves. Here\, he built a studio where he produced his final paintings and completed his Large Bathers\, now on display at the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia. In 2016\, the City of Aix-en-Provence acquired a neighbouring plot to make it easier to access the site. Having visited his studio\, which is just as it was when he lived here\, I can say that it is a truly moving experience. \nThe Bibemus Quarries\nNo visit to Cézanne‘s Aix-en-Provence would be complete without exploring the new trail leading to the Bibémus quarries\, to the east of the city. This 7 hectare rocky plateau has been hailed as the birthplace of Cubism. If you visit this place\, you will instantly understand how this site inspired the artist. And why he kept coming back time after time\, sometimes sleeping in a shed where he stored a few of his artworks.
